Southern Star Feeds was started  in Spring of 2021.  After years of feeding different grains and supplements to my own horses and trying this and trying that I decided to make my own feed using the best ingredients, the best trace minerals, the best pre/pro/postbiotics I could get.  So I contacted Dr. Clair Thunes a well known equine nutritionist and told her I wanted to start a feed company.  After 6 months of going back and forth we came up with the formula for Absolute Performance a feed that would literally revolutionize equine performance feed. We contacted multiple feed mills and settled on a few across the country.  We made sure that the mills who are making the feed are IONOPHORE free feed line.  Why is this important, Having the feed milled in an IONOPHPRE mill  takes out all the risks of cross contamination of medicated feeds that might be milled in other mills.  Next was the test  and to see if horses would eat it.  No sense on having a feed full of the best ingredients if the horses won't eat it right....  So we began the trials we started with 25  horse and later added 5 more and the horses loved it. not one horse did not completely devour the feed. Well we were off to a good start. All of the horse owners were to keep pictures of the horses on Day 1 day 7 day 14 day 21 and day 30.  Well the results were phenomenal from 3 and 4 year old colts to futurity horses to horses in their 20s, all the horses on the program showed phenomenal improvements in their coats, there recovery time, all started drinking more water and became  over all more healthy on just 7lbs per day.  These are competition horses that get ridden a minimum 5 days a week.  Horses showed more focus, more energy and not 1 horse got hot on the feed.  Got questions or want to try the feed give us a call and we will answer any questions you may have and arrange for you to get the feed.
